Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Black and Brown communities within the United States have experienced simultaneous complex racialized assaults, murder by police and heightened stress conditions while surviving the pandemic. The disproportionate impact of COVID-19 deaths for Black Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), the murder of George Floyd and increased media coverage of police assault violence against the Black community moved the world to respond to Mr. Floyd’s death in May of 2020. Activists around the globe responded to Mr. Floyd’s murder by calling for police accountability, and local and national policy reforms to protect Black lives. Internationally and nationally, racial justice activists experienced traumatic events while at protests and demonstrations, producing a unique need for politically attuned, racial trauma focused public health interventions. + Are you a racial justice activist experiencing mental health impacts of your work? + Do you have insurance coverage but are being told "there aren't any in-network providers" available who specialize in trauma?
